Zamrud National Park
The youngest national park in Indonesia which mainly consisted of peatland with two freshwater lakes, Pulau besar lake and Bawah lake. This wetland area is surrounded by beautiful islands inhabited by a variety of birds, fish such as beautiful Arowana and rare mammals including Sumatran tiger and sun bear. Located in Riau province with more than 40% of its forest has been cleared for industrial concessions, Zamrud is a glimpse of hope in the middle of growing threat of encroachment.
